PARK15 | First pile driven for most sustainable DC in NL

On Thursday 12 October, Toon van Asseldonk, mayor of the municipality of Overbetuwe, drove the ceremonial first pile into the ground for the Lidl distribution centre at Park15 Logistics.

This festive occasion was also attended by Michiel Scheffer (member of the Executive Council of the province of Gelderland), Harm van Oorschot (director of buildings and construction for Lidl Nederland), Peter Scholtens (regional director of Lidl Nederland) and René aan de Stegge (managing director of GiesbersGroep).

The distribution centre is the seventh for Lidl Nederland. On a plot measuring more than 157,000 m2, Lidl is building on a total of 54,000 m2 to create one of the largest Lidl distribution centres in Europe. Once again, the supermarket chain is setting the bar high as regards sustainability. The distribution centre is being built using sustainable construction materials and the building has been designed to use only energy that has been generated sustainably. With this project, Lidl is once again aiming for the BREEAM-NL ‘Outstanding’ certification with no fewer than 5 stars.

You can see an impression (photos and video) of the ceremony here.
